Background Information:
Since 1989, when the communist regime in former Czechoslovakia collapsed, the Dunajsko nitriansky district which consist of 35 church congregations considers it as a priority to reconstruct and construct new church buildings. Congregation in Komárno - her daughter congregation in Iža has no building, where people, children and youth would enjoy Christian fellowship. The Iža Lutherans are Slovak repatriates (from Hungary, where they had been living for 250 years as a Slovak farmers), who live in Iža since 1947. During the communist hardship it was rejected them to built their own church center to develop their own community life.
The construction of the new church center building is located in a middle of village in Iža near by school, catholic church and village council. Iža is a suburb village (about 1 800 inhabitants ~140 Lutherans) close to Komárno - 6 km. Until this time (50 years) Lutheran Christians did not have own place where they may celebrate Sunday worship and develop Christian life.
Therefore, in 1996 we organized a first village meeting with church representatives and architects to put together ideas, proposals for shape of the new church. The church center building should not be bigger than for 30-50 people. In this meeting was also announced a collections for new church center.
Aim of the Project: To organize worships, Christian occasional celebrations, youth camps, training seminars for youth and Sunday school leaders.

To strengthen the family life of Christians and their stewardship as they assume responsibility for their church and society.

Time factor:
The project can be implemented as soon as funds have been available. The time and recourses to construct the building may be divided into 2-3 (4) years.

Comments: The project benefits mainly regular worshipers and young families. This project will help to recreate spiritual values have been lost during the last time within the youth and middle generation. The church center may organize also trips, clubs, village adult educational courses and cultural events.
